The attached video explains it all, so we'll keep this simple. It seems Michael Bay directly cribbed scenes from his 2005 movie, The Island, for 2011's Transformers: Dark of the Moon, which is gobbling up people's disposable income this weekend.
Extreme credit goes to the YouTube user who recognized Bay's clever use of CGI and called him out on it. This also proves that at least one human being actually saw The Island. Hit the jump to watch the side-by-side video comparison.

Senator Levin looking for answers on Administration's proposed 56.2 mpg

Carl Levin, a democratic Senator from the state of Michigan, seems none too thrilled with the Obama Administration's proposed CAFE target of 56.2 miles per gallon by 2025. This ain't the first time that Levin has reacted negatively towards regulations calling for increased fuel economy, and it likely won't be the last.For the record, General Motors, Chrysler and Ford are three of Levin's top five financial donors, so there's reason to believe that Levin will defend the automotive industry no matter what the cost.
With that bit of trivia out of the way, let's move on to Levin's concern over the proposed 56.2-mpg standard. According to The Detroit News, Levin appears to have been caught off guard by the announcement and is now seeking some answers. He says he's sending a letter directly to the White House asking for a detailed explanation of how the Administration arrived at 56.2 mpg. Levin told The Detroit News that:
Though Levin is "very concerned" about the impact that the Administration's proposal will have on automotive sales and jobs, he strongly supports improvements in fuel efficiency, just not in the usual sort of way.We want to know how they arrived at that starting point. We will get that information one way or another.

Video: Watch Pikes Peak racer Roger Lovell roll from the inside out

It's been almost a week since the crazies went hell bent for glory up Pikes Peak, and videos from the hill climb are still making their way to the internets. The crew from AMSOIL just released a volley of footage from their two sponsored entries - drivers Brad and Roger Lovell.
Brad had no problem ushering his custom machine up the mountain, but as you may have heard, Roger ran into a bit of a glitch during his run. Part-way through the course, Roger missed an apex, drifted onto the far shoulder and attempted to correct his path, resulting in a lengthy tumble up an asphalt section of the road.
Thanks to a stout roll cage and plenty of luck, Roger came out of the incident without serious injury. And fortunately for the carnage-hungry out there, the crew had strapped an onboard camera into the cockpit before the buggy went tires-to-Jesus. HSV SV Black Edition
Holden Special Vehicles (HSV) has unveiled the special edition "SV Black Edition" based on either ClubSport R8, ClubSport Tourer R8, or Maloo R8 models at the Melbourne Auto Show. This special edition will be offered in both manual and automatic transmissions and will go on sale in September.
The "SV Black Edition" will be offered with matte black detailing, a Vector hood scoop and fender gills, HSV’s bi-modal exhaust system, and 20-inch forged alloy wheels. For the interior, the Black Edition models will add a unique dash treatment, leather seats, and a leather-bound steering wheel, on top of the already generous E3 equipment list. A special Enhanced Driver Interface (EDI) system that will offer details on power, torque, manifold pressure, fuel, elevation, voltage, oil and air temperature will also be available.
The standard equipment list includes a reversing camera, park assist, and satellite navigation. There will only be 225 units built and, despite the "Black Edition" name, this special edition will be offered in Sting Red, Heron White, Alto Grey, Nitrate Silver, and Phantom (black).
